Young Explorers Club

A week of adventures for parents and children, together

Parents and children take part as one team. From a private chalet in Champéry, at the foot of the Dents du Midi, families share a week of guided adventures: rock climbing and via ferrata, a summit hike and downhill scooters, orienteering games, mountain biking and a night under the stars, with Swiss traditions such as cheese-making along the way.

The pace is active but balanced: a guided activity in the morning, a meal together outdoors, a second activity or free family time in the afternoon, and relaxed evenings at the chalet. Every activity is adapted to each age and ability, and there is always a quieter option for anyone who prefers it. Logistics, accommodation, meals and safety are taken care of, in English and French.

Where we stay

The camp is based in Champéry, an alpine village in the Dents du Midi region, on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil: mountains, forests, rivers and trails right on the doorstep.

Families stay together in a private chalet near the village, with private rooms and family suites, spacious common areas to cook, play and unwind, and a garden facing the mountains.

  • A safe base: children can explore within sight of the adults
  • A mountain home: large shared spaces for families after big days outdoors
  • Nature outside the door: hikes, cable cars and activities nearby, with little travel

05 / 07 · Safety & philosophy

How we do it

At Young Explorers Club, safety comes first in everything we do outdoors. We keep strict measures in place so that every child, whatever their age, feels safe throughout their stay:

  • SafetyOur leaders and instructors are trained and experienced in the outdoors
  • SafetySomeone responsible for first aid and crisis management is always present
  • SafetyA participant to staff ratio of 5:1
  • PhilosophySmall groups One leader for every five children, so every child is known by name.
  • PhilosophyChildren choose Every day offers real options, and nobody is pushed into what they are not ready for.
  • PhilosophyOutside, all day Phones stay away for the week: the mountain is more interesting.
  • PhilosophyMany languages, one table Children from different countries share the same games, meals and campfire.
  • PhilosophyLeaders, not babysitters Chosen for how they are with children as much as for what they can climb.
