Young Explorers Club

Kitesurf, surf, paddleboard, kayak and more

Where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, Tarifa is Europe's water sports capital, famous for its reliable wind. For one week, teens aged 13 to 17 learn kitesurfing with professional instructors, surf every day at their own level, paddle and kayak along the coast, and end their days with beach games and sunsets, in an international, bilingual (English and French) group.

The camp runs in two summer weeks in 2027: 4–10 July and 25–31 July. Both weeks are on the waiting list for now. Families can book with or without the group flight from Geneva to Málaga.

More than a fun camp. Every teenager camp at the club has a leadership side to it. Teens are given real responsibility: they take turns leading the group, help our team plan the day, look out for one another on the water and help organise the group’s evenings. They learn to communicate, to make decisions and to solve problems as a team, and they come home more confident and more independent.

  • Ages, group size & staff ratio

The camp is for teens aged 13 to 17, in an international group, with a participant to staff ratio of 5:1.

  • A typical day

Breakfast at the house, a morning on the water (surf, kitesurf or paddle, depending on the wind and the plan of the day), lunch, an afternoon of beach games, snorkelling or another session, then dinner together and an evening activity.

  • Packing list

Everything to bring is on our material list.

  • Equipment provided and rental

All the equipment for the water sports is provided and included. Participants bring their own swimwear, beach towel, sun protection and the items on the material list.

  • Meeting point & travel

Families choose when booking. With the group flight, participants meet our leaders at Geneva Airport and fly together to Málaga, where transport to the house is arranged. Without it, they join the group in Spain: contact us to arrange where and when.

  • Health, medication & dietary needs

There is no nurse on the camp, but many of our staff are trained in first aid, and someone responsible for first aid and crisis management is always with the group. If your child falls ill or is hurt, the team takes them to the nearest doctor or hospital and calls you at the first opportunity.

    • Hand any medicine to the staff on arrival, with a written note on the dose and timing.
    • Give the details of medicines, allergies and diets in the trip preparation form in your family account, so the team knows before the camp.
  • Safety & insurance

Many of our staff are trained in first aid, someone responsible for first aid and crisis management is always with the group, and our policies follow the standards of the Vaud Youth Protection Service (SPJ).

    Every participant needs:

    • Health and accident insurance covering illness and accidents during the camp, rescue costs included (ambulance or helicopter)
    • Civil liability insurance

If your child is not covered, you can add the insurance we offer when you book.

  • Cancellation & refunds

Our terms are those of the camp contract you sign when you book.

    • Without cancellation insurance, the camp fees are not refunded or transferred, whatever the reason.
    • With cancellation insurance (CHF 210 / week), booked for each child when you register, the camp fees are refunded, minus the price of the insurance, if your child cannot come because of an illness or an accident, or the death of a parent, brother or sister, or grandparent. Tell us in writing at least 48 hours before the camp starts, with a medical certificate or a death certificate.
    • The insurance does not cover a cancellation less than 48 hours before the camp, or an illness, injury or family situation that arises during the camp.
    • There is no refund for a late arrival, an early departure or a child sent home.
    • If a visa is refused, we refund everything except CHF 250 of administrative fees, on the written decision of the Swiss consulate or embassy.
    • If we cancel a registration, everything you paid is refunded.

Every cancellation is made in writing.

  • Dates

The camp runs in two summer weeks in 2027, from Sunday to Saturday: 4–10 July and 25–31 July.

Both weeks are on the waiting list for now: register your interest and we will contact you as soon as places open. Your child can join one week or both.

  • Languages

We believe in bringing together an international community: the languages spoken at the camp are English and French. Mixing French and English speakers is a huge benefit, and each group learns from the other.

  • Program and Activities

Our programme of activities evolves every year to stay fresh, exciting and meaningful. The wind and the waves also shape each day: instructors choose between kitesurfing, surfing and paddling to make the most of the conditions.

For the most up-to-date details, please refer to the brochure or contact us.

  • Do you have any other questions?

We believe in human-to-human interaction: write to us via our contact methods and schedule a call or meeting with one of our team.

We will be happy to answer any doubts or questions you may have. Or find the list of all frequently asked questions on FAQs.
