A campfire in the woods and a ride in the arena

Friday's photos came from the woods and the high pastures. A big campfire burned in a clearing between the fir trees, with the group gathered around it and sticks held out over the embers. In the warm evening light, friends posed arm in arm for the camera, team after team. Other photos show a small lake set in green alpine meadows, where the campers sat on a bench by the water in the sun. There was riding again too: a lesson in a covered arena, then a quiet ride along a shaded forest path.

Day 3 ·

Rafting on the river and horse riding

The photos shared on Tuesday showed three sides of the week. On the river, the group lined up on the bank in helmets, wetsuits and life jackets, then sat back into the cold, fast water and let the current carry them. On horseback, a line of riders followed a quiet road between meadows, the mountains behind them under a clear blue sky, and some brushed their horse in the stable before setting off. It was a hot summer day, and it ended as such days should: ice lollies by the roadside, and splashing at a long wooden fountain.

Day 2 ·

Building shelters in the forest

The first photos of the week came from the forest. Working in small teams, the group built shelters from branches, leaning long poles against the trees and filling the gaps with smaller ones. Once a frame stood, everyone squeezed in to try it, sitting side by side under a roof they had made themselves. The sun came through the leaves in patches all day. Later, tarps went over the shelters, a small fire was lit in a ring of stones between them, and the marshmallows came out on long sticks, held over the flames by a circle of light-blue camp shirts.
