An international camp, not a language school
Young Explorers Club is an outdoor adventure club, founded in Lausanne in 2018. Our camps are bilingual, English and French, and English is the language the children share: instructions are given so that everyone understands, and the groups are mixed on purpose across languages and nationalities.
Children don't sit in a classroom to practise their English: they use it all day, planning a route, belaying a friend on the rock, cooking on the fire, playing games in the evening. That is why so many families choose us as an English summer camp in Switzerland. A basic understanding of English is enough to start, and most children go home more confident in it.

Who comes to the camp
- About 500 children a year, from all over Switzerland and from more than 30 countries
- Most are first-timers, and many come on their own, without a friend
- Rooms are arranged by age and mixed by country, so friendships form across languages from the first evening
- Leaders are educators, outdoor guides, sports coaches and language teachers, with about one leader for every five children on the Junior camps

Language classes, if you want them
The camps run in English and French. Families who want more can add optional afternoon classes in French, English or German: two hours a day, Monday to Friday, in small groups, with games, dialogues and projects rather than grammar drills.

Questions parents ask
Does my child need to speak English?
No. A basic understanding of English is enough. Children of every level come, many precisely to practise, and most improve a lot during the week.
Which languages are spoken at the camp?
English and French. English is the main common language. Some of the team and of the children speak German, and optional German classes are available.
Where do the other children come from?
From all over Switzerland and from more than 30 countries. Groups are mixed on purpose, so children make international friends.
Can my child fly alone?
Yes, many do: our team meets them in the arrivals hall at Geneva Airport. If you use the airline's unaccompanied minor service, our team can be the receiving contact. Tell us when you book the flight.
Is the price different for families living abroad?
Each camp has a price for families living in Switzerland and one for families living abroad: it depends on where your family lives, not on your nationality. Every price, week by week, is on dates and prices.
How long can my child stay?
One week at least, Sunday to Saturday. Many children stay two weeks or more: the activities change every week.
